DV 101: An Introduction to Issues of Power and Control
-
Have you been told you are abusive?
Are you constantly upset within your relationship wishing that things could be different?
Do you feel like you and your partner are on two completely different pages?
Is your partner cold and mean to you but you don’t identify as a “victim”?
Did you have lots of tension in your family growing up, seeming like other families seemed more “normal” than yours?
Do you work in a helping profession where an understanding of trauma informed care is essential?
Are you a therapist, but shy away from anything that is “DV” oriented, preferring to focus on trauma and the effects of abuse instead of understanding the nuts and bolts of relational violence inside and out?
If you find yourself saying yes or maybe to any of these, I think you will find a solid companion in course.

Please do!
This comprehensive course was specifically designed to be easily digested by anyone who seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the cycle of violence and how to effectively recognize, and ultimately stop issues of power and control in a wide variety of different contexts.
If you aren’t taking it for CEU’s then you just don’t need to take the test at the end.
-
I’d check directly with your state board on if there are only certain types of trainings they accept for license recertification.
For instance, some sates only allow ceu’s that are produced by clinicians in their state, or only by certain entities (NBCC, etc.)
I’m providing this under the umbrella of Northwest Family Life (NWFL). NWFL has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 3600. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Northwest Family Life is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
-
The full course in terms of video time is 1.5 hours. If you fill out the Me Sheets, that is an amount of time that is totally up to you and how much you put into the questions.
It is worth 4 ceu’s becuase that is about how long it takes with reading, breaks, and working with the me sheets.
-
If you’d like to be a therapist who gets this training for free as part of being an affiliate along with Nancy Murphy’s Speaking Up! training, feel free to start the application process by emailing hope@nwfamilylife.org
